Now welcome to the part of the show where I try to throw in a story and a bunch of cameos in the hopes of boosting my score.
SaberCat gets thrown through a wall, and finds himself face to face with Professor Goyle, another DU character of mine. But this isn't the Goyle from SaberCat's time, but a Goyle that's survived the ages and ended up in this time period the natural way. Of course, being a nonorganic creature made of stone, he can do that. And Goyle tells SaberCat some terrible things about AngelCrusher, and the two team up to find a way out of the dungeon and to take down AngelCrusher. Meanwhile, Ritualist finds some cameos of his own to team up with. These are the eliminated fighters from AFL 1000.
So, back during the start of the AFL 1000, back when we were still signing up and the optional intro comics were being published, I noticed an odd pattern. That a lot of the fighters being pulled into the tournament were pulled through completely by accident. Some were pulled when somebody nearby was being targeted. Others were pulled seemingly at random. The portal acted irrationally, and neither the participants, the staff, or AngelCrusher knew what was going on. So I imagined who could possibly be behind these unusual selections. So I just imagined a 1000 year old Professor Goyle, the one character smart enough to create and operate a device like that, in a dungeon somewhere, being forced against his will to operate this portal device, and choosing all the wrong participants out of spite. I even tried to make an extra comic featuring this idea, but I was running out of time, so I scrapped the idea. But with this round taking place in a dungeon, and with it being the very last round, I figured why not give this a chance?

AFL may be illegal, but it may also be a necessity. Making strong warriors even stronger by making them fight all kinds of individuals from the far reaches of the galaxy.
While the heroes get better, the villains does so aswell, so it is kind of a double edged sword but it happens, it's not perfect.
I see now why Angel Crusher is seen as a hero, he makes the other heroes stronger with his tournaments.
Also why so many veterans call him an "old friend".
